Biden era: its impact on world and India
With Biden swearing in as the 46th POTUS, his Presidency is most likely to restore internal as well as external Socio-Economic and political scenarios to the Pre Trump era.
‘America United’ being one of the themes of the new Presidency, the Biden Administration is committed to bringing together the whole country on the ideals of the American Constitution. This is quite visible from the appointments of members of the Administration and from POTUS’s first acts of revoking Muslim Ban, halting the construction of the Border wall with Mexico.
Meanwhile the foremost challenge of the new Presidency is the threat of the Virus. With the initiatives like 100 Days Mask challenge, the new presidency is trying to speak to the rationality of the Americans. The $1.9 trillion stimulus package and a humane focus in terms of moratorium on evictions of the tenants show leanings towards Socio-Economic Justice.
Biden has given a theme of ‘America is Back’, which in all probabilities signifies reversal of the Inward looking policies America had taken up during Trump era. He has brought America back to the fight against Climate Change by rejoining Paris Agreement and halting withdrawal from WHO.
It remains to be seen how the bilateral relations with India pan out. The economic Stimulus will bring liquidity to Indian Stock market, we can hope for better Immigration, pay and Software Exports. The migration of US investors and manufacturing from China will continue, India can expect to be a better alternative for the same. The China factor will bring India, USA, Japan, and Australia closer like we have seen in the past. But if Biden goes back to treating Islamabad on par with India and the reinvigoration of the Trans Pacific Partnership may not augur well for India in terms of Geo-strategic and Economic terms respectively.
